Character concepts |

Lately I've been busy with schoolwork. As always. I feel like I've been saying the same thing ever since I created this site.
And the new character concepts I've added to my gallery are, of course, for my schoolwork. They are the three main characters from the game we've been developing. Well, we actually create the game project but we'll only have to model a 3D interactive environment for it. Even so, we have to create EVERYTHING about the game - all levels, characters, modelsheets, write a walkthrough...
I had much fun doing those concepts. The girl is the main character, Rebecca (aka Becky). The blonde guy is her boyfriend, Jonas (aka Jon) and the guy in black is the antagonist, Gregorio Termikanov (aka Greg... Oops, not really. I'm the only one who calls him that).
Aaand I totally have to sleep now. I've spent the last couple of days working not only on these three concepts, but also on a bunch of modelsheets, cleaning sketches and eating unhealthy food...

New character concept |

EDIT: added two artworks, the first being an updated version of an old character concept, and the later concepts of two different characters.
School started a couple of weeks ago, so I'm short on time to draw something good, so forgive me for the spam of sketches! |

New character concepts |

Not truly new though, I've done those a couple of months ago.
The first one is a line-up of the character concepts from our school project. We developed a flash game based on the short story "In a grove", by Ryuunosuke Akutagawa. It narrates a murder case through accounts of different people, which either clarifies or obfuscates what the reader know about the murder. The player choices might lead to different endings.
Game design by RANDOM GAMES group.
Characters' design and characters' animation by Eliana h. oda.
Environment design and additional animations by Lívia Rodrigues Chauar.
Sound design by Raul Chamon Alves de Siqueira.
Programming by Kauê Peres Lima, Mariana Turchiari Boucault and Tauana de Andrade Lelis.
You can play the game through the following link:
Dentro do Bosque (available only in Portuguese)
Just for fun, I'll list all "easter eggs" I've added while drawing the elements of this game:
1. In the street with the bar, you can read "LUIMIELW" (Lívia's nickname) and "HARUMI" (my second name) on the vases on the floor.
2. Inside the temple (through the front door), from left to right, up to down: "THE BOOK IS ON THE TABLE", "GRADE: 6" (6 being the maximum we can get for this project), "MARIANA KAUÊ LOVE" (they are GF&BF), "MONONOKE" (a homage to an anime which greatly inspired us during the development of this project), "RONALDO" (for the brazilian soccer player and a meme about him) and "GARIBALDO" (a nickname of a former classmate).
3. Inside the temple (through the back entrance), you can read the final lines of the lyrics of "AGEHA", a music by my adored band MUCC. It reads "Jigoku no hate made ikou; aa kowai kurai hiritsuita", which means "Let's go together to the ends of hell; ah, it's so painful it's scary". Or something like that.
4. It's impossible to read, but... on the purple fans held by some women on the street it's written "TAUANA".
The other concepts are those of some original characters of mine. Here's hoping I can finish my RPG Maker games so I can show them in action. :)

... Or rather an illustration inspired by a music of ムック (MUCC). Which woul be 雨のオーケストラ (Ame no Orchestra - Orchestra of the Rain).
During the past few weeks I ran out of ideas for drawings. But as people say, when you're in an artblock, just DRAW and you'll eventually draw something nice!
And I'm SO looking forward to MUCC's live in Brazil! |

New artwork added: enironment design for schoolwork.
I'll NEVER draw bricks again in my life.
But if I manage to get enough motivation, I might work on a more refined version of this concept. I think the bricks still look ugly, and the floor is kind of empty...

Quick update~
A new link was added today: Maria Calderone's Shattered Mirrors. She happens to be one of my favorite artists on deviantART, so I'm really glad I can link her site to mine! I once featured her art in my deviantJOURNAL too. Focusing more on traditional media, her artworks are stunningly beautiful.
Do yourself a favor and pay a visit to her gallery!

Creature Design |

New artwork added: a creature design (more like monster design though). For once I'm not drawing something shiny and pretty! It does feel good to change styles sometimes. Though I still think I could've gone crazier with this design.
Just one more week of exams, and school is over! I hope I have time to start taking commissions through dA.

New artwork - Environment?? |

I was going to post new character designs too, but there's just too many of them and I got seriously confused after a few minutes.
Well, added a environment concept done for college. Me, doing environments! Sounds funny and very wrong. But it came out quite nice, I think.
Next update will be of characters designs done for college - again. Be prepared for tons of japanese characters! |

Wow, took me long enough to do the firt update of the year. Bravehost has been acting funny and the FTP went nuts, so I moved the whole site to Xpg.com.br.
Because I've changed my good and old Windows XP for a brand new Vista, my Wacom Tablet has been showing signs of incompatibility and thus I can only colour my illustrations and character designs when at college. Which also means that I haven't done much during summer vacations.
Anyway, all my most recent illustrations are of traditional japanese women. Yes, Kagrra, and Ayakashi -Samurai Horror Tales- got me inspired.
Also, I've added a new link: The Art of Troula, who happens to be my Illustration teacher at college. Awesome stuff!

I've finished another schoolwork, and I admit that I feel quite accomplished with it. Designing the character's outfit was tough, but fun.
I've also added a link among my artworks thumbnails which leads to my group's animation on YouTube. We had about two and a half months of animation and ToonBoom (an animation software) classes, and about a month and a half to do the whole animation. So, the project is over, and the animation is done. Cheers!
Animation Project: Myths
Chosen myth: To-Kabinana and To-Karvuvu, a myth of Melanesia
Born from the sand and the blood of a spirit, the brothers To-Kabinana and To-Karvuvu are the first humans to be born. They create women by throwing coconuts on the floor, but while To-Kabinana create good things, To-Karvuvu manages to mess things up everytime.
Characters' design and characters' frame-by-frame animation by Eliana h. oda.
Enviroment design and fishes' frame-by-frame animation by Lívia Rodrigues Chauar .
Script done by Mariana Turchiari Boucault and Tauana de Andrade Lelis.
ToonBoom animation by Kauê Peres Lima , Mariana Turchiari Boucault and Tauana de Andrade Lelis.
Colors by Leandro Rizzardi da Costa Oliveira.
Sound Design by Raul Chamon Alves de Siqueira.
And finally, but not less important, a new link has been added: Giselle Almeida's portfolio. She's a fellow brazilian artist, and I must say, a very talented one! |

New artworks were added to the gallery, most of them being schoolworks (which seems to be all I've been able to do lately).
I hope I'm able to do some art for myself when school is over!
Also, just to remember: if you have an artsite and want to be linked, feel free to send me an e-mail (please do not leave a message about this matter on the guestbook, for I rarely ever check it).

A new link has been added: Philomela's Earthen Vessel, a site dedicated to her original story Sand Dance.
There are lots of beautifully done illustrations, and it would seem that she's planning to add original musical compositions as well! Cool, huh?
